Welcome to the first of what I hope is many talks with people who, like me, deal with Autism. Knowing the stigma and everything and how some people choose to keep this private altogether, all I'll say is that these are some brave souls that'll brace this blog's chat transcripts.
Speaking of, some of these DID want to keep their identities online anonymous, so when we were doing the chat (with me recording via OBS), I moved the to of us to a special Discord server set up for this exact thing. I also changed their nickname on said server so the display wouldn't give their usual username away and cropped the avatar to where it'd not be on screen (via OBS).
This is the first of those chats....
From One Autist to Another:
*Blogger's note, my posts will be red, and the other person's will be blue
SOME OF THE ORIGINAL TRANSCRIPT FROM THE DISCORD CHAT HAS BEEN EDITED FOR THE SAKE OF THIS BLOG POST
Smash: How's your day going so far?
Anon: Doing good & fine
S: Now, i gotta ask.... Do you know how long it's been since that initial diagnosis?
If not, you don't have to answer
A: I don't remember if I do so...
S: TBH, I don't remember exactly when, either.
Was school a challenge for you, both academically and socially?
A: It was
S: How so?
A: Hmmmmm
S: That is, if you don't mind opening up.
I have everything where know one will know who I'm talking to
Display name changed, and Profile Pick has bee cropped by way of OBS
Let me ask it this way...
Were you bullied or picked on?
A: Yeah, it made me very angry & sad at the same time
S: Mood
These folks would find things that would trigger me every time and just continue to do it.
For example, they'd shush me just to taunt me. (VS a teacher/authority figure doing their job)
Have any such stories from your school time?
A: Trying to think of one, there's too many to think about.
S: Same here...
People always finding ways to "trigger" me, for a lack of a better word.
Actually started in mid-elementary school to the point my mom actually had to transfer me to a NEW elementary school midway through those years.
And this was back when the "official" diagnosis was ADHD vs Autism
A: Well, I do have Autism, but good thing i don't have ADHD
S: The thing with me was that the ADHD diagnosis was overridden once the one for Autism came up.
This *MIGHT* me ultra personal, but do you take any prescribed medicine to help anything from the Autism?
A: Well, I do take white pills that are shaped like M&Ms to help me relax
S: Yea.... I have to take a lot of pills myself.
Granted, some's for non-Autism related things...
And I'll repsect your privacy and not ask for age/gender.
Bud did either of those make dealing with everything harder?
A: Well, I took a break from school when a person tried to beat up folk (including me). I got scared, so i told my parents & my teacher that I couldn't stand/handle the situation anymore, thus I had to quit/leave school.
S: YIKES
A: I know...
S: I remember *THROWING A CHAIR* at someone at some point, and just feeling like mooning a whole classroom another time...
Not my best moments in my school life.
*DISCLAIMER: I don't suggest throwing chairs or showing your butt to an entire class AT ALL.... I suffered the consequences almost immediately afterward in both instances
A: Yeesh... O_O
That is worse...
S: And that first one persists in a way.... I still have explosive bouts of anger.
*Blogger's's note: Doing a mental health based 1 week 'Net Detox to prevent things like said bouts of anger
S: And I'm not sure if it's the Autism or just boredom... but I'm growing tired of the game show gaming life I've lead in the past 17+ years (just going by YT age), among other things.
*THIS IS THE END OF THE RELEVANT TRANSCRIPT PORTION, AS WE DERAIL INTO BIGJON TALK, AS WELL AS TALK ABOUT DETAILS IN WHEEL OF FORTUNE REGARDING WEDGES*
