Spoiling....why?

 SERIOUSLY... WHY?

Surprise.

It's not just a retired Wheel of Fortune space.

It's a real feeling that somehow, we lost the ability to feel.

But the culprits are known.

Leakers, spoilers, dataminers, those who CLAIM they known what's coming before the time for the reveal gets revealed, those who use the old "My uncle works at Nintendo" (which I bet nobody seriously buys as that line is older than Cranky Kong and deader than Wrinkly Kong post DKC3), and the ones with blurry screenshots that have the same quality as Bigfoot photos,

This goes for pretty much anything, including major movies (Hi Mario) to video gaming (Hi Mario, again) to game reveals, like the Nintendo Direct (Don't eat me, Kirby)

When we let the rumor mill, the leakers (even if their leaks are as fake as a game staring Waluigi), or a spoiler-ologist whose uncle was NEVER under employment by Nintendo grab hold of our expectations, we either:

Lose our sense of wonder and surprise when what they said ends up being true.

OR

Be mad when what was prophesied ended up being false, and blame the company instead of the source of the false expectations.

Let's face it, do we really need Reddit clout more than the experience of seeing a reveal like the company behind it intended us to?

It was bad enough when a movie from HOLLYWOOD spoiled key speedrun elements from Super Mario Bros 3 months prior to the US even getting to play it.

Now imagine that on a regular basis, time a thousand, everywhere you look (please don't try to sing the Full House theme), when no one asked for it

Also, you people can't not call for game reveals when the Direct says in plain English "No games will be featured in this presentation" (for Directs like those for the Mario Galaxy movie) or "No info on the Switch Successor will be featured" prior to them announcing the Switch 2.

Likc, come on, man... can't the rumor mill read the room and take a break?

Then, there's the moments THOSE people can't predict: Virtual Boy games on the Switch/Switch 2, a certain NON Mario franchise character in the Mario Galaxy movie (i'll leave it to you to find the poster and discover who it is), a game you didn't think would come out actually being announced, the King K Rool reveal for Smash Ultimate, and so on.

THOSE were hype because people did not see them coming, not because of leaks and spoils and all that (heck, leaks and spoils changed Smash Bros in a way where we'd not have a cutscene-heavy story mode post-Brawl)

Now, if i could have a moment with Pat Sajak, I'd like to know what this Surprise wedge won me this time...
