When you think of "The Price is Right", you usually think of Plinko, that yodeling guy, the words "COME ON DOWN", the Big Wheel used during the Showcase Showdown, and Bob Barker (or Drew Carey... let's leave the syndicated hosts out of the equation this time due to where this is headed)

BUT.... what if I told you...

MODERN PRICE IS RIGHT WAS A REBOOT BEFORE USING THE TERM "REBOOT" TO DESCRIBE A SHOW COMING BACK WAS A BUZZWORD FOR TV SHOWS & MOVIES

There's a reason season 1 of "modern' Price was called...

Because was a version in the 50s-60s:

Now this one doesn't have all the bells, whistles, and games the modern show has.

But it does have what we'd call "Contestants" (or "Bidders") Row in the modern format.

In fact, THE FULL GAMEPLAY IS JUST THE 4 PLAYER AUCTIONING THAT WOULD FORM THE BASIS FOR THE ONE-BID QUALIFYING ROUND IN CONTESTANTS/BIDDER'S ROW

And sure, it was popular for the time (despite what the critics thought at first), but all the big money quiz shows going down 1 by 1 due to the scandals helped THIS Price is Right become more popular via people migrating from the show they were watching before to this.

While this show had a daytime and nighttime version, almost all the daytime one was a victim of the ever-present (at the time) tape wiping to save space/money.

HOWEVER, A BUNCH OF THE NIGHTTIME

VERSION HAS AIRED ON GAME SHOW NETWORK AND ON BUZZR

(AS SEEN HERE:)

I'll stop here so this doesn't turn from a blog post to a Wikipedia entry.

Oh, and the concept of rebooting before rebooting was cool also applied to Match Game, but I won't cover that in this blog post.
